The cost of replacing the screen
Using a smartphone with a cracked touchscreen is neither convenient nor pleasant. Cracks can make it hard to see what’s on the screen, and may even injure your fingers.
Fortunately, most phone repair shops can replace screens fairly easily in as little as 30 minutes. Cracked screens are one of the most common phone problems, so repair shops are used to fixing them!
The cost of replacing the screen varies greatly depending on the device and type of replacement (generic or refurbished original).
We have compiled a table that shows the approximate price of a screen replacement by model and type of part.

The cost of replacing the battery
Smartphone batteries are worked to the limit and are designed to withstand hundreds of charge cycles. However, over time, people who use their phones intensively may notice a decrease in battery life. This is a sign that the battery is reaching the end of its lifespan.
You can give your device new life by replacing the battery. The cost of replacing the battery varies depending on the brand and model of phone, but less widely than with screen replacement.
Replacing an iPhone battery will cost anywhere from $65 for an older model to $160 for a more recent one.
When it comes to Android phones such as Samsung, Motorola, Huawei and Google Pixel, the cost of replacing a battery will generally range from $60 to $100, but can be a little higher for the latest devices.
The cost of replacing the charging port
A charging port that’s not working properly is a major headache for any smartphone user. Charging your phone without a working charging port is no easy task.
Like many other smartphone components, broken charging ports can be replaced. Sometimes, experts can even repair defective charging ports by welding certain parts.
Whether your charging port is repaired or replaced, it’s likely to cost around $70 to $100.
The cost of replacing the main camera lens
The lens of a smartphone’s main camera (located on the back) can sometimes take a beating, particularly when the phone is not equipped with a protective case. They can be scratched by contact with objects or even shattered following an impact. In such cases, it becomes very difficult to take good pictures and video footage.
Many smartphone models can have their camera lens replaced, but not all. Lens replacement will cost around $30 to $50.
The cost of replacing the main camera
Sometimes the damage extends beyond the lens and the whole camera needs to be replaced. Of course, this type of repair will be more expensive because it requires more time and expertise, and also because the replacement part will cost more, particularly for cameras with multiple lenses.
To give you an idea, the suggested retail pricing for the cameras on Samsung devices ranges from $115 to $361.
For iPhones, it’s hard to find a specific price, but you should expect to pay at least $100. Note that this estimate is for a single-lens camera like the one on the iPhone XR. For more advanced cameras, expect to pay over $200.
The cost of replacing the back panel
On some smartphones, the back panel can be replaced if it gets damaged. As you can imagine, the cost of the replacement will depend on the device, because the back panels of different models vary in terms of their finish, dimensions, ports, and the materials used to make them.
For example, replacing the back panel on an iPhone 8 would cost around $150.
Samsung and Huawei back panels tend to be cheaper to replace, with the price ranging from $50 to $80.
The cost of replacing speakers
Smartphone speakers can also be replaced if they no longer work properly. Repair shops can replace both ear speakers and main speakers.
Generally speaking, replacing an ear speaker will cost around $50, while a main speaker will be slightly more expensive, around $70.
The cost of repairing a water-damaged phone
Many people accidentally drop their phones in water or other liquids and end up desperately looking for ways to repair them.
While there are fixes you can try at home, it’s best to bring your phone to a repair shop that offers deoxidation, a technique that removes all traces of rust, verdigris and liquid from a device.
The procedure costs $40 to $100, and the most skilled technicians will be able to repair the damaged microwelds at the same time.
It’s important to note that smartphones can’t always be restored to full functionality, particularly if they are fragile or were submerged for a long time.
Recycell: because not all smartphones can be repaired!
If you’re experiencing one of the common phone problems presented in this article, you may well be able to have it repaired if you’re willing to invest a certain amount of money to do so.
That being said, if your phone is beyond repair or requires work that would cost more than its market value, it may be time to replace it entirely!
